The Subconscious Clay Stooges - Brad Mossman

The Subconscious Clay Stooges

I was just taking some pictures of this piece when I realized that the three heads sort of look like the Three Stooges!  Well, certainly Moe on the right!  The middle chap certainly has Larry's hair and then the left head MIGHT just be Curly or Shemp!  Or a COMBINATION of Curly AND Shemp as my friend Justin White suggests!  Well, I am a Three Stooges fan so it's fine by me if I channeled them to create this piece.

But it's fun that it subconsciously ended up with these three because I wasn't thinking of Moe, Larry or Curly when i was making them.  And then I had more clay heads to choose the three from.  Yet I chose these three.  Is it the Three Stooges?  If you wish it!

Otherwise, it's a 30 x 40 cm / 12 x 15.75" acrylic and dried clay on wood piece!  Before attaching the figures, the wood was painted with an acrylic background.  The figures are attached to the wood with a strong mounting glue/cement that's rated to handle 300kg/m2 of pressure (see photo).

The heads are made of hobby clay (see photos) and air dried for a minimum of five days.  They are all coated with two coats of matte, floor glue, which is somewhat like a clear shellac which creates a bit of a sheen but also keeps things together a bit better and adds a slight layer of protection.

Since the figures are dried clay and not fired ceramic, they are more delicate.  They can't get really wet and they can more easily chip or crack if something hits them.  For this reason I will not be held responsible or offer a refund if any of the pieces are damaged or fall off, etc. in the future.  I've done the maximum to ensure that the piece hangs securely and that each of the three figures are attached securely.  But if something knocks into it or it gets wet, I can't guarantee that these delicate figures could withstand any sort of shock to them.

This piece is not that large or heavy but the purchaser is highly encouraged to hang it on either a wood stud behind the wall with a long, thick nail or drilling holes in concrete and inserting a plastic anchor before inserting the screw.
