Maggie And Rosie

We have these lovely cat sisters named "Maggie" and "Rosie" (see photo).  They're so lovely and cool.  Just like your cats I'm sure!  But I wanted to paint a portrait of them.  Here it is!  I won't reveal which one is which.  There's disagreement around here regarding that!  After I painted it, I wanted to experiment, covering it with epoxy resin so it would be the absolute shiniest it could be.  The ultimate gloss coating.  Basically looks like glass!  It turned out great but it was my first time so there's bits of dust and hairs and stuff stuck in the surface like an ants and leaves in amber.  Also, on the lower left corner (in the photo) there's an unevenness where the resin got splotchy.  I've circled it in the photo.  The only way to fix it would be to pour a whole new coat of resin on it.  That would fix the uneven corner but the hairs and dust would remain anyway.  So this is it.  If imperfections annoy you and would ruin the overall vibe and experience of the piece, then this is NOT for you.  But if it still feels like a cool package with imperfections and all, then perhaps it is.  A print of it would obviously be cleaner!  But it really does look cool with the resin coating as the colors JUMP.  I'll keep you posted if I get more proficient and experienced with applying resin.  It's worth it but it's a challenge because you need an absolutely spotless, dust free environment and it all has resolve in one even coat (if you place a fan nearby to blow dust away, remember that the air stream can cause ripples in the resin as it's drying if the fan is too close!) For smaller pieces it would be a lot easier and less complicated overall.  I highly recommend the resin experience!
